Course description
The course examines the role of art museums as places of communication, cultivation of critical thinking, learning, expression and creation. It also examines the museum’s social role and the contribution of learning programs, inside the museum and offsite, to the equal access to culture and the elimination of social exclusion. It includes familiarity with learning theories and pedagogical methods for the design and implementation of museum educational programs and activities. It also covers analysis of the topic of audience development, ways of approaching different groups and developing collaborations / synergies with other institutions, with the aim of designing and implementing programs tailored to the needs and interests of each group. Examples and good practices of learning programs with school, special and mixed groups are presented. Finally, students through exercises-assignments become familiar with the design of learning programs and activities for art museums aimed at different audience groups.
