Christos Mais is a historian and cultural and publishing studies theorist. His work concentrates on the dialogue between history and publishing and book studies as well as on the use of various methodological research tools (e.g., archival resources, oral history, and digital resources).
He holds a Phd from the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (PhD, Leiden University, NL). His thesis was on the historical and theoretical dimensions of political publishing. His MA in Book & Digital Media Studies (Leiden University, NL) primarily focused on Publishing Studies and secondarily on the Digital Access to Cultural Heritage. He holds a BA in Economic Sciences with a specialisation on General Economic Theory and Politics (Ptychio, Department of Economic Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).

His research work includes papers on the History of Publishing, History of the Left, and the cultural and social history of the 20th century. He has worked as a Primary Investigator of the Research Project Nicosia: A shared and contested city (2015-2016) and as a researcher at the Memories of the Occupation in Greece (2018). Since 2019, he is the co-founder, senior advisor and a book series editor of the Greek non-fiction publishing house Psifides, based in Thessaloniki, GR.
