Research Interests: Installation Art, Curatorial Practices, Social Work Art, Image Theory, Post-Industrial Design, Media Theory, Gender Studies and Post-Humanities.

Sotirios Bahtsetzis is an Associate Professor in Theory of Contemporary Art and Curating Practices at the Department of Culture, Creative Media and Industries of the University of Thessaly and holds a summa cum laude PhD in history of art from TU Berlin. Subject of his thesis is the history and theory of installation art. He was a Fulbright Scholar (2009) at Columbia University New York, and a DAAD scholar (2001) at the Museum of Installation in London.Bahtsetzis has chapters in scholarly publications including Semiotics and Visual Communication III: Cultures of Branding (Cambridge Scholar Publishing, 2019), Meta- and Inter-Images in Contemporary Visual Art and Culture (Leuven University Press, 2013), Kinematographische Räume in Film und Kunst (Fink Verlag, 2012) and Inaesthetics (Merve Verlag, 2012) as well as articles in journals such as E-flux and Afterimage. He is a member of the editorial board of Aletheia. Journal of Psychoanalysis, Philosophy and Art. Bahtsetzis research focus on the intersection between critical art history and visual and intermedia studies, and he works as a free lance curator.
