Athina Koumparouli is a visual artist and art conservator with a master’s degree in Post-Industrial Design and Artistic Practices. Her artistic practice emerges from a multidimensional research approach that focuses on areas in transition—industrial landscapes, sites of natural disasters, or archaeological excavations. She uses archaeological methodology as a tool for artistic practice to explore different perceptions of the environment and aspects of the environmental crisis, through present or hypothetical scenarios.
Her work has been presented in Greece and abroad, including at the Kochi Biennale 2025, Eleusis European Capital of Culture (2023), Paxos Biennale (2024), and Dutch Design Week (2019). Her first solo exhibition was presented at the a.antonopoulou gallery, Athens (2025). She has participated in residencies in the Netherlands, Italy, France, and Greece. In 2022, she was an Artworks Fellow at the SNFCC. In 2022 and 2023, in collaboration with the University of Ferrara and with the support of the Culture Moves Europe program, she developed an artistic research project at an ongoing excavation on the Appian Way (Rome).
